As a musicologist, I've appeared on several radio shows. Weekdays I'm producer/sidekick for THE JOE LACINA SHOW on ABC's STARDUST format, where I'm also Program Director. For 7 years I hosted THE SATURDAY OLDIES SHOW and 70'S SHOW , and on Sundays, for 10 years I produced & hosted NIGHT TRAIN , a 50's/60's Rhythm & Blues/Soul music show. Every once in a while you might also hear me on radio talk shows as a guest musicologist.

ON THE RECORD COLLECTION: My parents started my record collection when I was 5 years old. Over the years it has grown to over 100,000 records, tapes, and CDs. With that collection grew the interest in music.

TELEVISION WORK:

After graduating from The University of Houston with a Radio-TV degree, I worked in television as a cameraman and eventually a producer-director at WFAA-TV, Channel 8 in Dallas-Fort Worth. This experience landed me a job as an Adjunct Professor at University of North Texas where I still teach a course in television directing.

IN CASE YOU'VE SEEN MY NAME IN PRINT BEFORE:

If you are a record collector, you might have seen it in some collector magazines like DISCOVERIES , GOLDMINE , or RECORD RESEARCH . In Texas, maybe you saw it in BUDDY Music Magazine where I did the trivia quiz page for about 10 years... or in the DALLAS MORNING NEWS where I've done music quizzes too. Perhaps you've seen it in Mike Callahan's BOTH SIDES NOW magazine or his OLDIES ON CD book. OR, if you read CD liner notes, maybe you've seen it on some Sundazed, Rhino, or Varese Sarabande products..

And speaking of records, a garage band that I worked with way back in the 60's and recorded on a label some friends of mine and I started (GPC) was the SOUTHWEST F.O.B. From that group came 70's duo England Dan & John Ford Coley . Dan is now country singer Dan Seals . The old SOUTHWEST F.O.B. records have been re-mastered and are now available on CD from Sundazed Records.

Now back to the name, if you saw the movie THE BUDDY HOLLY STORY and can read fast enough to catch credits, you might have seen my credit for doing the music research on that movie. (It comes 2:21 deep after the credits start rolling at the end.)

If you are in the Dallas-Fort Worth area, you might remember my oldies radio shows. The first was 57 NOSTALGIA PLACE on WFAA Radio, 570 AM. The second which was on for 10 years, was THE OLDIES BUT GOODIES WEEKEND SHOW on KVIL, 103.7.

That's it for this time. See my e-mail address below. Always enjoy hearing from you.
